Rules for Blackjack are relatively simple and aim to get as close to 21 as possible. Or rather – end up closer to 21 than the dealer. If the total amount of your cards exceeds 21, you will be ‘fat’ and lose your bet.
Cards 2-9 have the value that the cards show.
10s, jacks, queens and kings are all worth 10.
Ace is worth 1 or 11.
You first place a bet on the game table. When all bets are placed, you are dealt two visible cards and the dealer is dealt one visible card. When the cards are dealt, choose from the following options:
Take more cards (here) – you choose to take another card.
Stop (stand) – you choose to stop. The sum of your cards will be your total.
Split – If you have two cards of the same value (including, for example, a 10th and a king, both of which are worth 10), you can choose to split your cards into two hands. Each hand then receives another card.
Double – you choose to double your bet. You can then place a bet as large as your original bet.
Surrender – you choose to give up and get half your bet back. Only available on some blackjack games.
When you have finished with your hand, the dealer turns over his second card. The dealer then continues to take more cards until it gets a total of at least 17 – then the dealer must stop.
The result is then as follows:
⁃ If your total sum exceeds 21, you lose your bet.
⁃ If you are closer to 21 than the dealer, you win back your bet times 2. Example: If you placed $50 in a bet, you get back $100.
⁃ If you get blackjack, which means you get a card worth 10 and an Ace, you get back your bet times 2.5. Example: If you have invested $50 in a bet, you will receive $125 back.
⁃ If you and the dealer have the same total, or if both get blackjack, you get your bet back.
⁃ If the dealer gets blackjack, you lose your bet, as long as you do not also get blackjack.
